Masala MurMura / Spicy Puffed Rice Snack

In the evening, we usually crave a cup of tea and with tea, we want some snacks. And one of the popular snacks is Masala Murmura. It is a very easy and simple recipe to prepare. It can be prepared as Diwali/Holi snacks. Let's see the recipe. Ingredients - 1. Murmura (Puffed Rice) - 2 Cup 2. Peanuts - Half Cup 3. Grated ginger - 1 Tbs 4. Chopped green chili - Half Tbs 5. Roasted Jeera powder - Half Tbs 6. Roasted Red chili powder - Half Small Tbs 7. Chaat Masala - 1 Tbs 8. Pepper Powder - Half Small Tbs 9. Mustard oil -2 + 1 Tbs 10. Turmeric powder - 1 Tbs 11. Salt - As Per Taste Recipe - 1. Heat a kadhai and add 2 Tbs mustard oil. 2. Once it is hot enough, add peanuts and roast it on low flame. Around October month we get water chestnut available in the market. It can be eaten raw and also in boiled form. It is used in the raw, grilled, boiled form in the salads and various dishes. I love chestnut in boiled form. I have done few experiments with chestnut which came out very delicious. One of the easiest recipes with minimal ingredients I am sharing here today. Let's move to the recipe now. In winter evening it is one of the nicest yummiest recipes to munch on. Fresh peas, the new batch of rice flakes which are available in winter gives it a nice flavor. Even we get basmati rice flakes, which are popularly used in the Makar Sankranti celebration and winter season in North India. Let's move to the recipe now. Ingredients - 1. Rice flakes - 1 cup 2. Fresh peas - 1/2 cup 3. onion sliced - 1 4. Green chili - 2 slitted 5. pepper powder - 1Tbs 6. Oil - 4 Tbs + 2 Tbs 7. Salt - As per taste Recipe - 1. Heat a kadhai and add 4 Tbs of oil in it. 2. One of my favourite dry fruit is Phool makhana and even my tiny tot also likes it. For him, it is popcorn which he enjoys a lot anytime and anywhere. I feel nostalgic with the Sabudana mixture. In my childhood, there used to come a Thela-wala, he was called Bhunja-wala. And he used to sell mixture made of all puffed ingredients like puffed rice, puffed rice flakes, roasted peas, peanut, corn and puffed Sabudana tossed with tangy masala. I still relish it whenever I get an opportunity to have this mouthwatering preparation. My tiny tot also loves this mixture. This mixture contains very less oil and can be made totally oil free. Palak pakoda or spinach fritters

Today i am here with another recipe called palak pakoda (Spinach fritters). This is one of the yummy dish you can relish during rainy season or with evening tea. Kids do not like spinach to eat but this can be consumed with delight by them. This is also called pakodi or ponako, dhaltjies, bajji etc and it is found across Indian sub continent Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan apart from India. The word pakoṛā is derived from Sanskrit पक्ववट pakvavaṭa, a compound of pakva ('cooked') and vaṭa ('a small lump') or its derivative vaṭaka, 'a round cake made of pulse fried in ghee'. The main ingredient of pakoda can be any green vegetables like spinach, okra (Lady finger), brinjal, cauli flower, methi leaves, onions (spring can also be used), bottle gourd etc. The sliced vegetables are dipped in gram flour batter and deep fried in oil and can be served with various kind of chutney or sauces. Dahi Bhalla / Dahi Bada

Dahi Bada is a popular snack in India and it is also a side dish for party, wedding party and any festivals. It is basically, fried dumplings of urad/moong flour deeped in yoghurt with tangy tamarind chutney. The hot  deep fried  vadas are first put in water and then transferred to thick beaten yogurt. For best results, the vadas are soaked for at least a couple of hours before serving. To add more  flavor , they may be topped with  coriander  or  mint  leaves,  chili powder , crushed  black pepper ,  chaat masala ,  cumin , shredded  coconut , green  chilis  or  boondi . Sweeter curd is preferred in some places in India, especially in  Maharashtra  and  Gujarat , although the garnishing remains the same. It’s nostalgic to see jhal murhi. Mouth starts watering memories go back to childhood and yes how can you enjoy a train journey without jhal murhi. See you went back in lane of memories and your mouth is getting full of water. That peculiar sound of tan tan tan of jhal murhi wala. Let have a look for recipe: Ingredients: Murhi (puffed rice) 1 cup Roasted peanuts ¼ cup (optional) Sev ¼ cup Onion chopped (3 tbs) Carrot grated (1 tbs) Tomato (1 tbs) Boiled potatoes (¼ cups) Coriander leaves chopped (2 small tbs) Green chili chopped (1 small tbs) Lemon juice (2 small tbs) Pickle oil/mustard oil (1 tbs) Salt (a/c taste) Chat masala (1 tbs) Recipe : Take a big bowl and mix onion, carrot, tomato, potato, green chilli altogteher.
