Chawal Paratha with Matar Stuffing
Hello, I am sharing my fav recipe of chawal paratha with matar stuffing. This one I have learnt from my mom and it is winter special recipe and so I am here with its recipe.

Hello, I am sharing my fav recipe of chawal paratha with matar stuffing. This one I have learnt from my mom and it is winter special recipe and so I am here with its recipe.
Ingredients for dough-
- Rice flour - 2 Cups
- Water - 2 Cups
- Jeera powder - 1 Tsp
- Ghee/sunflower oil - 1 Tbsp
- Salt - As per taste
- Ghee/oil - 5-6 Tsp for roasting paratha
- Peas - 1 Cup
- Mustard oil - 1 Tsp
- Chopped green chilli - 1 Piece
- Grated ginger - 1/2 Inch
- Roasted red chilli powder - 1/2 Tsp
- Roasted jeera powder - 1 Tsp
- Garam masala - 1 Pinch
- Chaat masala - 1/2 Tsp
- Pepper - 1/2 Tsp
- Hing - 1 Pinch
- Salt - As per taste
Dough preparation -
- Heat a heavy bottom kadhai on low flame
- Add 2 cups water
- Add 1/2 tsp salt
- Add 1/2 tsp jeera powder (optional)
- Boil this water
- Add 2 cups rice flour in batches
- Stir well
- keep the flame on low always
- Cover the kadhai and cook for 2 mins
- Stir well
- Switch off the flame
- Cover and keep aside
- Let it cook in its own heat
- Wait to cool down till lukewarm stage
- Now transfer the rice mixture in big bowl
- Add normal water in batches and knead the rice flour mixture into soft dough
- It will require 2 cups and 2 tbsp of water to knead soft dough
- After kneading cover it and let it rest for 5 mins
- Take a mixer jar
- Add 1 cup fresh cleaned and air dried matar into the jar
- Grind without water
- Transfer in bowl and keep it aside
- Heat a pan on Low flame
- Add 1 tbsp of mustard oil
- Add 1 chopped green chilli
- Add 1/2 inch grated ginger
- Saute for 1 min
- Add matar paste
- Saute for 1-2 mins
- Add 1 pinch hing/asaefotida
- Add salt as per taste
- add 1/ tsp roasted red chilli-Jeera powder
- Add 1/2 jeera powder
- Add 1 pinch pepper powder
- Add 1 pinch Garam Masala
- Saute till it starts moisture disappears and combining well
- Add chopped coriander leaves and mix well
- Transfer in bowl and cool it completely
- Now take a ball size rice dough
- and make a round ball
- Flat it between palm
- Give a bowl shape
- Add 1/2 spoon of matar stuffing
- Enclose the stuffed dough ball and round it slowly
- Start floating the stuffed dough ball using palm
- Enclose all side if it is opening and stuffing is coming out
- Now flat it more using fingers (Refer video for details)
- Post that roll it slowly into thin paratha
- Heat a tawa on low-med flame
- Remove extra flour from rolled paratha
- Put the paratha on tawa
- After one min flip it to other side
- After one minute add ghee/oil for roasting
- Put the flame on med-high flame
- And roast paratha into crispy outer on both side
- Likewise prepare all paratha
